For a big birthday in 2011 – I’m not saying which one – we spent a few days in the northwest of Wales in Tremadog, chosen for its proximity to Portmeirion which I’d always wanted to visit because of its use as the filming location for the TV series The Prisoner. We got to look around The Village and spent the rest of the time hitting castles in the region and completing a circuit of the island of Anglesey.
