Margate is a place we’ve stayed on a number of occasions in order to use it as a base for exploring Kent and satisfy our preference for traditional British seaside towns when travelling in the United Kingdom. In 2014 we drove to Kent along the south coast via Hastings. In Kent we ended up visiting Dover castle and the white cliffs, Deal, and, on the way back home via a faster route, Herne Bay and the National Trust property at Ightham Mote.
