A dozen kilometres south of Chichester is the coastal town of Selsey, and for a lot of people in the UK of a certain age we’ll likely mostly only associate it as having been the home of astronomer Sir Patrick Moore. On the day in 2011 that we decided to pay it a brief visit and have a walk along the seashore there that’s precisely what we thought too, and we even went looking for his home, figuring it would probably be whichever one had an observatory in the garden. That was likely true but we never did spot his house that day and simply enjoyed a brazing breeze and sea views. Sometimes that’s all you need.
