The original photo of this was taken in 2016 and can be seen in the write-up here: Steam Train to Juanico.
There was some sightseeing of Uruguay’s capital, Montevideo, on this day but the main draw of the excursion we’d picked was to ride a restored, vintage, steam locomotive around 35 kilometres to the north where a wine-tasting and tango dancing show was promised. This proved to be underselling the experience as the train ride was superb and clearly rare enough to draw people out from the Uruguayan countryside to watch us steam past, followed by a wine-tasting that was so generous in its measure we got stupidly drunk, and drunk enough to even join a tango dancer for a few moments in front of everyone. A wonderful day.
Photographic reprocessing here has mostly involved a tighter crop and adjustment for the lens distortion, more vibrancy and contrast in the colours, then a largely transparent black-and-white filter over the top adjusting some of the hues to remove the brightest colours from the mix.
