My attitude to working has always been that I will work my hours and no more, and I will take my lunch away from my desk if at all possible. It’s not an unreasonable attitude in a world where workers are exploited and authority is assumed and imposed rather than deserved.
Getting away from the desk back in 2010 typically involved going for a walk in the countryside around near where I worked, Chilgrove in West Sussex. As a break from coding in a dingy office building, it was a good one, when the weather was good. Fresh air, the occasional bang of someone shooting at a pheasant, and the chance to take photographs of a typically English countryside landscape.
