One of the more popular destinations for cruisers and general travellers alike from the UK is the Canary Islands; certainly, it’s an area of the world that my wife’s family and my family have often holidayed in, but for us this cruise on P&O Cruises ship Ventura would be our first chance to see the volcanic islands popular in the colder months.

We would also get the chance to visit Portugal for the first time on this cruise and there was also a day that was supposed to be spent in Madeira that we were looking forward to as well. Sadly, cruises don’t always go as planned.
