This post covers any technical or content-related changes to the site over the last month as well as details about another old social network shutting down and a huge spike in traffic from the Reddit community; what happens when your site has the answer to a question that’s posed.

In this post I’m going to explain where I see myself amongst the various types of bloggers there are, specifically as it relates to cruise and/or travel bloggers. Additionally, I’m going to explain how I use social media and my reaction to the social media etiquette I see being broken every day. It’s worth noting, though, that these types of bloggers and this definition of etiquette are my personal ones as nothing official exists and it’s just a way for me to find my own niche and snuggle down in it when writing my travel posts and engaging with other people on the various social network platforms.

The latest in a semi-regular update about changes to the site, news and information from the social media channels, and any other bits of general business. This month includes a minor technical site change, updates to the drama recently reported, a surge in traffic from a private group, getting blocked by someone for reasons unknown, and the usual array of things I’ve been looking at.

Drama in the cruise blogging world! Say it ain’t so! But it is and I talk a little about it here. Also, we’ve finally worked out where we’ll be spending the remaining days of our annual leave (it’s to somewhere we’ve been before but we liked it so much we feel it needs a return visit) and there’s the usual round-up of anything interesting I’ve been reading recently.

The cruise ship formal night debate: as old as it is irritating. Our attitude is very simply that if you don’t like it then don’t do it, but this means go elsewhere on the ship while it’s taking place. There are those who think that just because they’ve paid to come on a trip they should have the right to wear what they want where and when they want with no consideration as to what other people might be looking to experience for the evening. I suspect this attitude doesn’t extend to weddings they’re invited to. I suspect this attitude doesn’t extend to funerals. Why? You’d hope out of respect for the wishes of the people organising those events and yet a cruise is somehow beneath that level of good manners. Can you imagine how these people would direct a James Bond movie?

A quick look at the list of nominees for the next Favourite Cruise Blogger Of The Year awards which includes this site. That sounds impressive but almost everyone who blogs about cruises made the list anyway.

This month includes a few modifications to the website, some new Facebook groups and Twitter promotional interactions, news about yet another upcoming holiday, and the usual roundup of some articles and videos I might have perused recently.

A brief review of our week-long cruise on Sapphire Princess which took us from Southampton to Guernsey, La Rochelle in France, and Bilbao and A Coruña in Spain. More detailed, more photo-heavy posts will appear in the portfolio section later but this review will serve as an early summary of the trip on the Princess Cruises cruise ship as a whole.
