We were given some good advice before we visited New York: one piece was that the Statue of Liberty was undergoing repairs so not to bother visiting it, and another was that a good way to see the statue itself was on the free-to-travel Staten Island Ferry. A lovely experience, as it happens, and – because I'm that way inclined – a good way to take photos of other people (typically other tourists) while they're distracted by the New York landmark. However, the particular woman in this shot was clearly a local, not at all concerned with the tall lady that others were interested in and apparently pondering what awaited her when the boat docked. The older generation make for fantastic photographic subjects.
