Some people can't wait for a bit of sunshine so they can get out and top up their tans; I'm not one of them. Being half-Irish I only have two skin tones: very white and very red. There are no intermediate shades.
Still, even though I'm not a sun worshipper I do understand the principle of the activity: expose one's skin to ultraviolet radiation and balance the cooking of said skin against cancerous growths in an exciting game of chance. This gentleman in the cathedral gardens today clearly was somewhat less worldly-wise than me and had mixed up the two disparate enterprises of sunbathing and wrapping up warm against a chill. I suppose it's easily done.
